About the event

This workshop draws on my current doctoral research addressing the benefits of digital storytelling as a tool for elevating student voices and cultivating multiliteracies in the (college) writing classroom. By employing digital storytelling not simply as an assessment tool or a way of demonstrating subject/content knowledge, but as a form of multimodal expression, writing instructors can honor the cultural wealth and diverse literacy practices that students from various backgrounds bring to bear on the writing situation. I will share my current research and lesson plans and participants will then be invited to brainstorm ways this practice may benefit their own pedagogies and praxis.
